Status of Integrated Service for Development of Children & Mothers (ISDCM):
ISDCM
has been registered with the Department of Social Services, Registration
No. DHA-04117 dated 01/05/98 and NGO Affairs Bureau, Government of the People's
Republic of Bangladesh, Prime Minister's Office, Registration No. 1426 dated
16/09/1999.
ISDCM PROFILE
ISDCM is the acronym (Integrated Service for Development of Children and Mothers). It is a non-political and non-profit making NGO established in view of the need for integrated service for development of children and mothers.
A group of ex-professional persons who worked with UN Agencies, International and National NGOs and GOB for a long time have now joined hands and formed ISDCM to work as team to provide integrated service for development of children and mothers in Bangladesh. ISDCM team has a rich background of UN working systems, GOB, Service Club and NGO operational methods in Bangladesh. It was established in June 1997.
Because of long sincere and devoted service members of the team have unique opportunity to develop work relationship with different officials and the community at various levels. The team also has the expertise in program designing, project formulation, monitoring and implementation. ISDCM Works in Bangladesh for achieving the following broader objectives:
OBJETIVES
Management
According to the Constitution of ISDCM the General Body
is the highest authority of the Organization which consists of 31 members
with the provision of increasing the number of general members. The Executive
Committee (EC) consists of members who are elected by the members of the General
Body for a period of two years. The EC is the decision making body of ISDCM
which plays an active role in reviewing and approving the projects and the
activities. It is the policy implementing body.
ISDCM Mission aims to set an example of people-centered integrated socio-economic development, creation of self-employment and job opportunities, establishing gender equity, empowerment and social justice, health services, education, agriculture and environmental development.
ISDCM is also committed to undertake need-based programs for the target. Beneficiaries with the aim of poverty alleviation, eradication of illiteracy and unemployment, establishment of health society, skill development and attain economic self-reliance.
ISDCM strongly believes that in many sustainable development effort, people centered participatory approach is quite effective, and that the resourceful persons and professionals should give due consideration to local wisdom in formulating or planning, implementing and managing various development projects, for this, the organization upholds the principle to value peoples ideas an knowledge, so that they are empowered to decide independently.
The vision of ISDCM is to make capable, effective and well-managed non-government sector and enhanced society through implementing active programs and integrated service for soic-economic development of the poor, disadvantaged and deprived population.

ISDCM has different activities primarily to design and implement projects for development of Children and Mothers, provide technical support and services for implementation and monitoring of development projects. As an organization it has been growing steadily. It has so far prepared and designed number of projects for itself and other organizations, conducted number of surveys and prepared training module for some projects.

Community
Based Arsenic Mitigation follow-up and further Extension of work in
manikganj Sadar was a R & D Project. The project was aimed at
follow-up survey of the counting number of tube wells rightly reflected
in the previous survey in the year 2000 including screening of all
domestic private and public tub wells. The project also included the
selection of proper technology for installation of alternative safe
water option (SWO). |

and installed Surface Water Option "Hydrepour" in the river
kali ganja under Manikganj Sadar Upazilla. We also designed Arsenic
and Iron Removal Palant (AIRP) as a technological alternative water
supply option which minimizes the concentration of arsinic and iron
in Tube well Water. |

Community
Based Safe Water Supply and Arsenic Mitigation Program of Homna of
Comilla, Bancharampur of Brahmanbaria and Damurhuda of Chuadanga District.
The project includes both soft and hardware development. training
of community peoples, govt. development workers, peoples representatives
and Arsenic Mitigation. The project was implemented in 4 phases. The
duration of the project was 4 years. (2001-2005); |

The
flood emergency project in the wake of severe flood occurred in Homna
of Comilla and Bancharampur of Brahmanbaria district. The project
included repairing, maintenance, rehabilitation of tube wells affected
by flood and new installation of water options in affected areas. |

The
Follow-up project to ascertain status of the different water options
installed in Manikganj sadar Upazila, Homna Upazila and Damurhuda
Upazila to enhance the community management system effective in operation
and maintenance and to keep the safe water options in running condition
in order to ensure provision of arsenic free safe water. Through this
project ISDCM developed the Water Safety Plan (WSP) and monitored
water quality of all SWOs installed. |

Village
Arsenic Free Safe Water Supply Project through pipeline network for
the rural community which was owned and managed by them. Existing
Irrigation Tube Well was the mail source of supply and an Iron Removal
Plant (IRP) of 400sft was also constructed under this project. This
project was undertaken in the village Ujirpur of Damurhuda upazila
of Chuadanga district. The project idea was innovative and this kind
of plant was installed in few locations of Bangladesh. |

was funded by Rotary International H2O Project Manikganj Sadar Upazila,
Manikganj completed in July

4. Post implementation Monitoring of Action Research Project on Community Based Safe Water Supply & Arsenic Mitigation in Manikganj Sadar to assess the acceptability of Mitigation options with UNICEF financial assistance and DPHE technical support. The period December 2000 to December 2001;

Arsenic Mitigation Project in Homna Upazila of Comilla district to determine

9. Implemented Community Based Safe Water Supply and Arsenic Mitigation Project in Homna Upazila of Comilla, Bancharampur Upazila of Brahmanbaria and Damurhuda Upazila Chuadanga districts. The project was funded by UNICEF with DPHE technical support: Period 2002 to May 2003;
10. Implemented Community Based Safe Water Supply and Arsenic Mitigation

11. Implemented Community Based Safe Water Supply and Arsenic Mitigation Project in Homna Upazila of Comilla, dstrict. The project was funded by UNICEF with DPHE technical support : period July 2004to April 2005;
12. Post implementation Follow up Project of Community Based Safe Water Supply and Arsenic Mitigation Project in Homna Upazila of Comilla, Damurhuda of Chuadanga and Sadar of Manikganj districts. The project was funded by UNICEF with DPHE technical support : period June 2005 to December 2005;
13. Post Flood Rehabilitation Project of safe water options installed at Homna and Bancharampur Upazilas. The project duration was December 2004 to April 2005. The project was funded by UNICEF with DPHE technical support.
14. Flood Emergency Response Project was undertaken by the consequence of 2004 devastating flood aiming to address flood preparedness activities to ensure safe water, safe sanitation, health education, community mobilization in 30 Upazilas of 5 districts(Jessor, Jhenaidah, Gaibandah, Manikganj and Netrokona). The project duration was 9 months and funded by UNICEF with DPHE technical support.
15. Village Piped Water Supply Action Research project implemented at Ujirpur village of Damurhuda Upazila of Chuadanga district. The project component was included an Iron Removal Plant (IRP of 400 SFT) to ensure arsenic, iron and manganese free water. UNICEF provided financial assistance and DPHE gave technical support: period of November 2004 November 2005. The project was owned and managed by the community.
16. Micro-Finance Project for Poor Women of Syedpur Camp, Syedpur, District Nilphamari is on going project implementing with the financial assistance of OBAT Helpers Inc. USA. The duration of the project is one year and may be extended based on performance. Project period May 2006 to April 2007.
17. CORDAID corporate Micro-Finance Project: ISDCM has received Tk 7,188,300 from CORDAID a Netherlands based organization as loan for socio economic condition of poor women of Natore district. ISDCM has utilized the entire amount under micro-finance activities through its 4 Branch offices viz. Singra, Kaliganj, Bagatipara and Natore Sadar Branch offices. This is an ongoing project and expanding gradually and increasing the number of beneficiaries. The project activities helped poor women to change the complexion of the socio economic condition of the people of the area and increase the women empowerment through income generation activities.
